The story

Between Shadows and Sunlight gathers a lot of the questions that had been following my early catalog and puts them inside one long reflection. How do you keep moving when the way forward is unclear? What deserves the limited time you have? What does love ask you to notice while the people you care about are still here?

A Light in the Fog begins in uncertainty, with enough light for one next step. Living for the Light treats hope as a direction instead of a mood. The Hourglass changes the scale of the album. Time is moving whether or not you feel ready, and knowing that affects every song after it.

One More Sunrise brings the idea into daily life. A new morning does not erase what happened yesterday, though it does offer another chance to respond. Second Chances, First Steps and Never Too Late continue that thread. Starting again sounds inspiring from a distance. In practice it begins with a small action taken before you feel transformed at all.

Love is the album's other center. Falling Into Forever describes the depth of finding someone who feels like home. Tomorrow's Not Promised asks people to say what they feel while they still have the chance. Your Eyes Tell the Story moves closer, paying attention to what another person communicates before any words arrive. The songs share a belief that love becomes visible through attention, presence, and the choices repeated across ordinary days.

The country setting carries memory and ambition together. Dust on the Boots, Dreams in the Heart holds roots beside the want to build something larger. Hometown Morning returns to the details that make a place feel permanent even after its people have changed. Every Mile's a Memory accepts that the road behind you stays part of who arrives.

Here and Now and Make It Matter bring the record toward purpose. Knowing your time is limited only has value when it changes how you live the day you have. The songs ask for presence, meaningful work, kindness, and a legacy measured in people rather than applause.

The Quiet Between closes without another anthem. The silence is where the previous fourteen songs settle and you decide what matters in your own life. That ending suits the album because certainty was never the goal. The record moves between shadow and sunlight, and most lives contain both at the same time.

Looking back, the original description promised a universal journey and said it in broad language. The truer story is that I was learning to hold a larger album together through concerns that kept returning. Time, home, love, hope, and purpose had all shown up before. Here they became parts of the same conversation, and that prepared the catalog for more personal and focused work ahead.

Start here

  1. 01The Hourglass

The image of passing time gives the album urgency and changes how the listener hears every later song about love, memory, and purpose.

  2. 02Second Chances, First Steps

Renewal becomes believable because the song focuses on the small action that follows a decision rather than the declaration itself.

  3. 03Every Mile's a Memory

This track connects road, identity, and remembrance, showing how the distance traveled remains present in the person who arrives.

  4. 04The Quiet Between

The final song resists a grand conclusion and lets reflection become part of the listening experience.

Track by track

  1. 01A Light in the Fog

Uncertainty remains, but a small source of guidance gives the narrator enough direction for the next step.

  2. 02Living for the Light

Hope becomes an orientation toward purpose, connection, and the parts of life worth moving toward deliberately.

  3. 03The Hourglass

Passing time creates urgency and asks what deserves attention before another season disappears.

  4. 04One More Sunrise

A new morning offers another attempt without denying the difficulty or mistakes carried from the day before.

  5. 05Falling Into Forever

Love feels like recognition, commitment, and the discovery that another person has become home.

  6. 06Dust on the Boots, Dreams in the Heart

Country roots stay visible while ambition pulls the narrator toward a future larger than the place where the dream began.

  7. 07Second Chances, First Steps

Change begins with one grounded action taken after the promise, when the person still feels uncertain and unfinished.

  8. 08Tomorrow's Not Promised

Awareness of limited time becomes a reason to speak affection, repair distance, and stop postponing presence.

  9. 09Hometown Morning

Familiar light and ordinary routines hold the comfort of belonging alongside the knowledge that home changes with time.

  10. 10Never Too Late

The song argues for renewal while respecting the effort required to rewrite a pattern that has shaped years.

  11. 11Every Mile's a Memory

Each stage of the road leaves something behind in the traveler, turning distance into part of identity.

  12. 12Here and Now

Attention returns to the present moment, where life is available before memory or anticipation pulls it away.

  13. 13Make It Matter

Purpose is measured through the care, work, and kindness that remain in other people's lives.

  14. 14Your Eyes Tell the Story

Close attention reveals the emotion another person carries before either of them finds the words to name it.

  15. 15The Quiet Between

The closing reflection leaves room around the album's questions and trusts the listener to continue the thought.

Where it leads

Between Shadows and Sunlight ended 2024 by gathering the catalog's early concerns into one record. Still Here arrived three days later with a more specific emotional center, using the bond between a father and daughter to explore mental health, care, and survival.
